How it works

Small classes of similar ability.
That's the key.

Every Apex class has up to four students, all working at the same level, set by an assessment when they join. Two-hour sessions, once a week, online over Zoom.

01 · The start

The Apex Placement Period

Every new student starts with four two-hour one-to-one sessions in their first month — eight hours of individual attention. We find exactly where your child is, close the urgent gaps, and place them in the right group.

We never place a child in a group just because it has space.

02 · The group

Four students. One level.

No one gets dragged along too fast, no one gets held back. That's the difference between a group that works and a crowd that doesn't.

£30 / 2-hour session

That's £15 an hour.

03 · The rhythm

Then £120 a month.

That's 8 hours of tuition a month at £15 an hour — plus a recording of every session, a growing pool of practice questions, and a written report. Rolling monthly, 30 days' notice, no contract tricks.

One monthly price · nothing extra to buy

Everything's in.

No premium tier, no upsells. Once your child is in a group, every part of the programme is included.

What parents and students say

Every review. Five stars.

"I've been in Apex Tuition since the start of Year 11, and within a short time my grade increased from a 5 to a 7. Honestly, I wish I'd joined sooner."

Zain · Trustpilot review

"My son had maths tutoring for the 3 months before his GCSEs and it made a colossal difference — he went from a 4/5 student to a 6/7 student in a short space of time. Only wish we'd started sooner. Highly recommend."

Jane E. · Trustpilot review

"In the group sessions, whenever I didn't understand, the teacher used different techniques until we understood it. I went from a predicted grade 2/3 to a grade 6 in just 5 months."

You'll never have to ask "how's it going?"

Every month, a written report lands in your inbox:

  • Topics covered this month
  • Where your child is strong
  • Where they're weak — and the plan for it
  • Weekly practice completion
About Apex

Built by a maths specialist.
Run like it matters.

The method

Founded and led by Uthman, Apex teaches maths one way: worked examples with the group, then guided practice from easy to exam-hard, on a syllabus built around the actual exam — Edexcel, AQA, OCR and IGCSE covered.

Groups are formed by assessment and reviewed as students progress, so if a child's level changes, so does their group.

The standards

The boring things done properly — because you're trusting us with your child.

Questions parents ask

Straight answers.

Tell me more about the tuition.
Apex began with one tutor. Over the past three years, Uthman went through the full tuition programme himself, delivering every lesson, testing what worked and rebuilding what didn't. Every decision was judged from the parent's side of the table: what would he want for his own child, and what would he be happy paying for it? The answer, refined lesson by lesson, is what you see on this page. Small classes matched by level. The complete programme included as standard. A written report every month so you always know where your child stands. This is the tuition he set out to build, where quality and cost were never a choice between the two.
What happens in the first month?
The first month is the Apex Placement Period: four two-hour one-to-one sessions — eight hours of individual attention. We assess exactly where your child is, close the urgent gaps, and place them in a group at the right level. After that it's £120 a month for GCSE groups.
What if my child misses a session?
They won't fall behind, because the live session is only one part of what you are paying for. Every lesson is recorded and comes with a written summary of exactly what was covered, so a missed week is straightforward to catch up. Beyond that, every student has the full programme waiting in their portal: the Apex syllabus built around the actual exam, a growing bank of practice questions drawn from our own material and the best external sources, and video solutions to work through at their own pace. You are paying for a complete maths programme, not a single weekly session.
Is my child too far behind for a group?
That's exactly what the Placement Period is for — the one-to-one month closes the urgent gaps before your child joins a group. One of our students went from a predicted 2/3 to a grade 6 in five months; his review is on Trustpilot.
How are groups formed?
When your child joins, the Placement Period assesses exactly where they are: their current working level, the grade they are aiming for, and the specific topics holding them back. We then place them in a class of up to four students who are all at that same level and working towards the same kind of result, so the group moves at one pace and nobody is dragged along or held back. Groups are reviewed as students progress, and if your child's level changes, they move to the group that fits. Every class is capped at four so no one gets lost in the room.
How do lessons actually run?
Online over Zoom, once a week, two hours. Students work through worked examples with the tutor, then guided practice from easy to exam-hard on a shared whiteboard. Boards covered: Edexcel, AQA, OCR and IGCSE.
How do I cancel if it's not working?
It is monthly and rolling, with 30 days' notice. You finish the month you have already paid for, and no further payments are taken after that. No contracts, no exit fees, no tricks. The full terms are written down and linked at the bottom of this page.
